Toto Spa Is Awarded A € 100 Million Contract In Poland

IT WILL BUILD A NEW SECTION OF THE S61 HIGHWAY

Chieti, October 12 2018 – Toto Spa Costruzioni Generali will design and build a new stretch of the S61 expressway between the junctions of Łomża and Kolno, in the territory of Województwo Podlaskie (Podlachian Voivodeship) in the north-east of Poland.

The Italian company, which has been operating for some years in Poland, has signed the new contract worth approximately € 100 million, which includes the design and construction of a lot on the new S61 Expressway, stretching for about 13 km, and it also includes a 7 km link road with the local road network. The Minister of Infrastructure of the Polish government, Andrzej Adamczyk was also present at the signing ceremony.

The work will last a total of 37 months. Among the key structures of the project, in addition to 20 bridges and three road junctions, “Łomża Zachód”, “Nowogród”, “Łomża Północ”, stands out a dual carriageway viaduct over 1.2 km long, consisting of 7 spans with maximum length of 150 meters, which crosses the Narew River.

The client is the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways of Poland (GDDKiA), with which Toto has already been working for some time.

The new order consolidates the order book of Toto S.p.a. in the country and confirms the expansion policy in EU markets, that has been characterizing the company for some years. The company has already been involved since 2015 in the construction of a section of the S5 Poznan-Wroclaw highway, currently 80% completed, and in a road project in the Czech Republic.

The strategic presence of TOTO S.p.A. in Poland is confirmed these days by a new important signal. The Company has been selected as “preferred bidder” for a further project in the country. It is in fact first in the ranking, on a panel of 6 international companies, for a lot of the S1 motorway in the south of the country. The investigation on the offer presented is currently underway. The value of the project in this case is about 230 million euros, the work includes the design and construction of a lot of the S1 (EX S69) Bielsko-Biała-Żywiec-Zwardoń highway, in the Przybędza-Milówka section (ring road of Węgierska Górka). The customer is always the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA).

The section will connect the towns of Przybędza and Milówka in the Silesian Voivodship, south of Poland, with the expansion of the existing junctions and the construction of a bypass to the town of Węgierska Górka to provide a road link with the S1 expressway.

The work will take a total of 34 months, including the planning period excluding winter closures. The project includes the consolidation of the embankments for a total of about 70,000 square meters, the construction of 10 works of art, bridges and viaducts, for a total length of about 2 km and a total area of about 30,000 square meters. The project is completed by two tunnels, excavated using the traditional method, for a total length of about 3.5 km.
