Headquartered in Boston, US Wind is an Italian renewable energy developer, administered by Alfonso Toto and controlled by Renexia, an Italian company working in the field of green energy. The company agreed to pay $8.7 million for two leases off the Maryland coast to build commercial-scale wind farms. The project involves <strong>a total investment of $ 2.5 billion<\/strong> and is part of the&nbsp;President Obama\u2019s comprehensive&nbsp;Climate Action Plan to create American jobs, develop domestic clean energy resources and cut carbon pollution. \u201cThese results are a major achievement and reflect industry confidence as we strengthen our nation\u2019s foothold in this new energy frontier,\u201d Interior Secretary Sally Jewell said in a statement.\u201d The park has been strongly backed by the Governor of Maryland, Martin O&#8217;Malley, coordinator of Governors and democratic character in the ascendant in the national political landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The sites that will host the towers will be extended for a total of nearly 80,000 acres (32,370 hectares) off the coast of the state of Maryland<\/strong>. The project involves the installation around 125 wind turbines (the number of which will vary from 85 to 125 , by reason of turbines choices) mono-pole frame turbines at 20-30 meters deep, while the transmission of electricity will be ensured through undersea substations. The power output will amount to between 850 and 1,450 MW, the plant will have an <strong>annual energy production of 1,824 GWh.<\/strong> The wind farm will bring energy to approximately 300,000 homes, will be 15 miles far from the coast, it will be 80 minutes of navigation far from the shore .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8221; Being there and having won this race &#8211; said <strong>Alfonso Toto, President of Us Wind<\/strong>&#8211;&nbsp; is proof that Italy can compete and win on the technology and innovation also in the international arena. Our commitment now is to design and build a low-impact plant, which is efficient and high-tech with short lead&nbsp; times &#8216;\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The examining committee in Washington, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Regulation and Enforcement (BOEM&nbsp; confirmed ), the regularity of supply, while the Department of the Interior had already given notice of the allocation of the tender to Us Wind on August 20. Us Wind will design and build the wind farm by 2019, the deadline set for the kickoff of energy.
