{"id":867,"date":"2020-09-28T20:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/totoholding.it\/?p=867"},"modified":"2025-02-12T17:42:07","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T16:42:07","slug":"cefalu-castelbuono","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totoholding.it\/en\/projects\/cefalu-castelbuono\/","title":{"rendered":"Doubling of the Cefal\u00f9 \u2013 Castelbuono railway line"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Client:&nbsp;<\/strong>RFI \u2013 Rete Ferroviaria Italiana S.p.A.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Work cost:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u20ac 402.284.385,24<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The project involves the executive design and construction of the \u201crailway line doubling\u201d of the Cefal\u00f9 Ogliastrillo \u2013 Castelbuono section, along the Palermo \u2013 Messina line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a particularly complex project, which will be implemented with the latest technologies and characterised by works that are almost entirely underground, including the new Cefal\u00f9 railway station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will make it possible to redefine overall regional planning in one of the most evocative and renowned places on the northern Sicilian coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project focuses on a section approximately 12.3 kilometres long \u2013 entirely on double tracks \u2013 operating between Ogliastrillo, in the Municipality of Cefal\u00f9, and the Castelbuono station, in the Municipality of Pollina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The excavation of four tunnels is planned: the 6,700-metre, dual-bore Cefal\u00f9 tunnel; the 4,000-metre, single-bore Sant\u2019Ambrogio tunnel; the 750-metre Sant\u2019Ambrogio tunnel window; and the 150-metre, Malpertugio tunnel window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To construct the Cefal\u00f9 tunnel, the longest of the whole project, a single Dual Mode Tunnel Boring Machine -TBM &#8211; will be used, capable of advancing through various different types of terrain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The construction of the new \u201cCastelbuono Station\u201d, with related roadway access, is also planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will connect the town of Cefal\u00f9 more efficiently with Palermo and Falcone Borsellino Airport.
