FEED signed between Renexia and Ming Yang for a 2.8 GW floating wind farm off the coast of Sicily after meeting with Minister Urso

The contract follows the joint signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Italian Ministry of Enterprise to start production in Italy of the new 18.8 MW MySE turbines, for more than 1,300 new jobs

Rome, October 8, 2024 – Renexia and Ming Yang announce that they have signed a contract in recent days for the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) of the Med Wind project. The agreement marks another milestone in the development of Med Wind, a 2.8 GW floating wind farm 80 km off the Sicilian coast that will be powered by new Ming Yang turbines.
In fact, the wind farm will use 18.8 MW turbines (MySE 18-292), for which Integrated Load Analysis has already been initiated and whose prototype is already successfully operational. The synergy between Renexia and Ming Yang grows in the wake of a strategic collaboration to create a factory in Italy capable of producing the most powerful and technologically advanced wind turbines in the world.
As part of this important project, Zhang Chuanwei, Chairman of Ming Yang Group, and Riccardo Toto, General Manager of Renexia, met again with the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and Antonio Scino (Chief of Cabinet of the Ministry of the Environment) representing the Italian Minister of Environment and Energy. The meeting followed the signing last August of the Memorandum of Understanding that paved the way for the new investment, which is capable of creating more than 1,300 permanent skilled jobs and opening promising prospects for the start-up of an industrial sector capable of meeting the needs of the Euro-Mediterranean market.
